Privacy Notice

Effective October 1, 2026

SafeClip is developed by Yuhao Shen. This notice explains how the app, website, and direct-license service handle data.

Clipboard and local files

While running, SafeClip reads newly copied text, images, rich text, and file references to provide history, search, preview, paste, and enabled redaction features. Clipboard history, rules, image OCR text, document search indexes, and custom variables are stored on your Mac. Clipboard contents are not uploaded to the developer.

Clipboard content may include passwords or other sensitive data. Originals and values matched by shell replacement rules are stored in plaintext in the local database. Image OCR uses macOS on-device recognition. Document search and file redaction process only enabled, supported types. Redacted copies remain on your Mac; original files are not overwritten.

Apple sign-in and App Store purchases

If you use Sign in with Apple to purchase or restore VIP in the Mac App Store edition, the Apple user identifier provided for this developer team is stored in your local Keychain. Apple StoreKit handles purchases, subscriptions, and restoration. SafeClip does not receive your Apple account password or full payment card details, and does not send that identifier or your App Store purchase records to a developer server. Apple handles data under its own privacy policy.

Direct purchases and license service

Paddle processes direct-edition payments. The website sends the selected plan and a random checkout identifier to Paddle. Paddle sends us customer, transaction, subscription, and refund events. Our license service stores Paddle customer and transaction identifiers, a hash and encrypted copy of your license key, random device IDs, activations, and subscription status. It receives no clipboard content or full payment card details.

The key is kept in your Mac Keychain, and the direct edition periodically contacts the license service to verify access. Your browser stores a random claim secret so it can retrieve the key for up to 90 days. To request access to or deletion of purchase data, contact us below; legal recordkeeping obligations may apply.

Backups, retention, and deletion

You can set history retention, delete records, clean up generated files, and export or import backups in the app. You choose where backups are stored. They may contain plaintext clipboard originals, keys, and custom variables. Deleting the app or its local data affects history and settings; Apple-managed purchase records remain with Apple.

Website, analytics, and contact

The SafeClip app has no third-party advertising or behavioral analytics SDK and does not upload usage logs to the developer. The direct edition requests the release manifest from safeclip.app at most once daily, or when you check manually. This request contains no clipboard content or membership data. The hosting provider may process your IP address and standard access logs needed to serve the site.

If you email support, we receive the address and content you provide to answer your request. For privacy questions, contact [email protected]. If data practices change, we will update this notice and its effective date, and update App Store disclosures as required.
